EPFL – LMH Lausanne - Switzerland
An organization dedicated to advancing the state of the art in the field of hydrodynamics
applied to turbines, pumps, pump-turbines, hydraulic systems, cavitation and performance validation.
Since 1969, a Center of scientific excellence in research on hydraulic machines specialized
in performance validation, hydrodynamics, cavitation, hydro acoustics, numerical simulation
and advanced instrumentation.
- Assessment of prototype pump and turbine performance, efficiency, cavitation erosion risk,
operating stability, safety.
- Experimental validations, according to IEC 60193, of reduced scale models for new hydropower
projects or for turbine refurbishment.
- Advanced technical education in hydraulic machinery: EPFL Mechanical and Electrical Engineering
Master Study, EPFL Doctoral Study, Professional development, yearly short course in hydraulic machinery,
Special training and class on demand.
Independent, Authoritative, Fast, Relevant, Flexible, Focusing on the Results
The EPFL Laboratory for Hydraulic Machines:
- Contributes to the Educational Objectives, Research Goals, and Public Service Outreach of EPFL.
- Performs Basic and Applied Research, Exploratory Development in Support of Hydro Technology Suppliers.
- Promotes the Transfer of Advanced Knowledge, in Partnership with Both Industry and Power Generation
Utilities.
